  • Suzuki Association of Minnesota Piano Graduation

    Each March our Suzuki PIano Teachers Guild hosts a graduation for Suzuki Association of Minnesota’s students in Sundin Hall at Hamline University. Students of SPTG teachers are invited to perform on a recital at this festival, even if they are not participating in graduation. Please see the SAM piano graduation information on the SAM website through the link below. You will also use this link to register non-graduates to perform in the festival portion of the graduation event.

  • Advancing Students Recitals

    Held each winter, these recitals showcase our students in Suzuki Piano Book Four and above. A reception follows each recital. This year the recitals are on February 14, 2026 in Antonello Hall at the MacPhail Center for Music. Registration opens December 9. The deadline to register is January 9, 2026. Teachers submit a video of their student performing his or her piece with the registration. The fee is $25. Suzuki Association of Minnesota Piano Graduation and SPTG Festival

  • Graduation fee is $50, to add an additional level is $30, festival fee for non-graduates is $25, the fee to audition for upper level soloist at Benson for students in Books 6 & 7 is $20 (Recital is March 14, 2026)

  • Every teacher is required to volunteer in some capacity at the event. Here is a list of the graduation committee responsibilities.

Twin Cities Suzuki Piano Teachers Guild Recitals for Advancing Pianists

  • February 14, 2026, 12:30-4:00 p.m.

  • In Antonello Hall at MacPhail Center for Performing Arts

  • Registration opens December 9, 2025 ~ we are using a new format ~ you will enter your students’ info into a google document and submit payment to SPTG through Venmo, or mail a check to our treasurer. Contact Suzanne for a link to your registration document

  • Registration Deadline for Teachers to Register their students and upload their videos is January 9, 2026

  • Recordings will be available for teachers to critique January 16, 2026, and the comments will be due to the students’ teacher by January 23, 2026

RECITAL STANDARDS FOR SPTG EVENTS

Students on SPTG and SAM recitals represent the Suzuki Piano Method. The following guidelines for preparing students to perform should assure that all our students are presented at the highest level of their ability.

GUIDELINES FOR TEACHERS PREPARING STUDENTS FOR RECITALS

1.  The student has had experience playing before an audience.

2.  The student has performed the selected recital piece on at least one previous occasion.

3.  The student has brought the piece to a high musical level.

4.  The student has been advised in proper stage manners and dress.

5.  The student must memorize the music. No written music can be used in recitals.

6.  For the Advancing Recitals a video audition is required. Refer to the Instructions for Video Process above.

GUIDELINES FOR RECITAL PROGRAMS

1.  Each program will include a variety of repertoire and a broad representation of studios (teachers).

2.  Initials will identify the teachers of the student performers.

3.  Advance registration time lines will be set to allow planning of programs and communication with teachers and students well before the recital date.
